This is Stephanie Maas, partner with Thinking Ahead Search.

Speaker:

I specialize in commercial banking and commercial finance search here in the Mid Atlantic.

Speaker:

So I still get this question, um, and I'm not laughing because it's a silly question ish.

Speaker:

In fact, one of my favorite lines is, there are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Speaker:

And I'm not trying to imply that anyone that asks this is stupid.

Speaker:

But I think it does indicate a little bit of the head in the sand mentality.

Speaker:

And the question that I keep getting asked is, Hey, we're seeing a lot about the great resignation in the news on social media, LinkedIn, professional articles, whatever their source might be.

Speaker:

Is that really real?

Speaker:

Is this really happening?

Speaker:

And I have to chuckle.

Speaker:

If you aren't firsthand experiencing it, one of two things is happening.

Speaker:

Really, your head is super, super in the sand and you're not really aware of what's going on around you or it just hasn't hit you yet.

Speaker:

Is the great resignation real?

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

People are tired.

Speaker:

They're burned out.

Speaker:

They want to change.

Speaker:

They've had an opportunity over the last.

Speaker:

Just a couple of years to reevaluate their life and they're making some very real decisions.

Speaker:

Some of them are super simple.

Speaker:

Hey, I've had an opportunity to spend a ton of time with my family over the last couple of years.

Speaker:

I'm never going back to the office to work and they stay remote.

Speaker:

For some of them, it's, you know what?

Speaker:

My employer sucks.

Speaker:

I'm out of here for some is this industry sucks.

Speaker:

I'm out of here for some, it's, it's all kinds of things.

Speaker:

Some of it can be very positive, but either way.

Speaker:

Our reality is this, the Great Resignation is on.

Speaker:

So is it real?

Speaker:

Yup.

Speaker:

And if you aren't dealing with it, especially if you're in a position of authority, you better game on because it is about to rock your world.

Speaker:

The Great Resignation is very real.
