Hi, I'm Read Allen from Thinking Head Executive Search.
Speaker:I'm here to tell you a hard truth.
Speaker:This isn't your mother's job market.
Speaker:With the help of technology like LinkedIn and AI, it's never been easier to mass apply for jobs.
Speaker:The candidates you are interviewing have multiple irons in the fire, and probably a few serious ones if they're good candidates.
Speaker:While you're scheduling a third interview, another employer may have already extended an offer.
Speaker:And if you've been lucky enough to find a unicorn, guess what?
Speaker:They look like a unicorn to every other company who are interested too.
Speaker:The reality is, most candidates who are looking for jobs are operating with a sense of urgency.
Speaker:They need to find a job and will take a bird in the hand over a bird in the bush any day.
Speaker:Before you post a job, decide who needs to be involved, when interviews will happen, and when a decision will be made.
Speaker:Set a hiring timeline and stick to it.
Speaker:Avoid getting multiple candidates on the hook and then hitting the skids for two to three weeks because one person is on vacation.
Speaker:Even if you can't hire within a week, keeping candidates informed and maintaining a momentum can make a huge difference.
Speaker:A good recruiter can help you manage the timeline and keep things moving.
Speaker:They can also save you valuable time and energy if your company's screening processes are slow.
