This is Stephanie Maas, partner with Thinking Ahead Executive Search.

Speaker:

Today I want to talk to you a little bit about change.

Speaker:

For most humans, change is a pretty intense emotion.

Speaker:

There's a reason why we get all up in arms when it comes to change.

Speaker:

We are creatures of habit.

Speaker:

What we know we have tons of phrases that describe this things like the devil, you know, is better than the one you don't.

Speaker:

And there's tons of motivational mouth.

Speaker:

Change is inevitable, but dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, and so forth and so on.

Speaker:

Yes, these are all incredibly True things, but for most of us, at our gut, when change starts to happen, or we start to hear about change, we get pretty squirmy.

Speaker:

We get pretty uncomfortable, and that's okay.

Speaker:

Think about all the change that has occurred in your world, and I mean, like, boots on the ground all the way to global economy and issues surrounding everything.

Speaker:

But what I want to remind you is, yes, change can be incredibly uncomfortable.

Speaker:

But, with change comes opportunity.

Speaker:

And this isn't me trying to make lemonade out of lemons.

Speaker:

Lemons are what they are.

Speaker:

Now, if mixed properly, especially if there's vodka involved, I can be a pretty big fan.

Speaker:

But, with change comes opportunity.

Speaker:

Doesn't make it easier, but that's where I want you to spend your time as you find yourself In change and chaos and everything that comes along with it, have the discipline, have the objectivity to step back and say, okay, maybe I don't like what's happening or how I'm feeling or I'm very unsure, but can I step back far enough to see?

Speaker:

The opportunities that present themselves with change.

Speaker:

If you can, I can assure you, you will get to the other side of fear ten times faster.

Speaker:

You might even be surprised that you start embracing the ideas around your change because of the opportunity it starts to afford for you.

Speaker:

There's a ton going on in the market right now.

Speaker:

It doesn't actually mean you need to leave your job.

Speaker:

In fact, the change for you might be let everybody else go and you stay right where you're at so you can get those opportunities.

Speaker:

It might be, Hey, there's so much going on, I don't want to be a part of this anymore.

Speaker:

You should talk to a recruiter, but hang with me, hang with me.

Speaker:

It's not necessarily for all the reasons that you might think.

Speaker:

And I'm also speaking both with potential candidates and potential clients.

Speaker:

Of course, for candidates, this is a great time to talk about, Hey, what is your future?

Speaker:

What do you want?

Speaker:

Are you on the path to get there?

Speaker:

What opportunities are coming out of all of this craziness and all the change that's ultimately happening.

Speaker:

On the flip side, if you're in a position to hire, let me be clear, you actually could have some incredible.

Speaker:

Opportunities to pick up some truly great talent because with change comes opportunity.

Speaker:

Even if you're not ready to hire today, but you think, Hey, I know I've got to do something different with the team.

Speaker:

Just remember with change can come tremendous opportunity.
