Speaker:

Hi, this is Stephanie Maas, and today I wanna talk to you about what's your reputation?

Speaker:

Do you even know?

Speaker:

I have to be honest, most of the people in the world today have almost zero self-awareness.

Speaker:

They think they know, but they truly don't know how they are perceived professionally in the market.

Speaker:

That is a very important thing to know, especially if you plan on making any kind of a job change at all ever in your future.

Speaker:

We all know the horror stories out there.

Speaker:

We know the folks in the market that have horrendous reputation.

Speaker:

I'm not talking about that.

Speaker:

What I'm talking about is what we're not hearing, but is still being said, and this applies to both candidates as well as clients.

Speaker:

Just this week I was talking to somebody about a process they were going through and how important it is to be mindful of the reputation, so.

Speaker:

Clients as you are putting yourself out there, whether it be through interviews, networking events, please be very mindful of your reputation and what you're putting out to the market, because I guarantee anybody that comes to interview with you, whether it be tomorrow or over the next several years, they're gonna ask around to see what your reputation is.

Speaker:

Candidates.

Speaker:

Absolutely the same thing applies Anybody that you interview with, whether it be tomorrow or years down the road, I guarantee you they're gonna ask around when they know they're coming to meet you.

Speaker:

Hey, do you know such and such?

Speaker:

Have you ever met with such and such?

Speaker:

You and I both know doing backdoor references or off the record references as illegal.

Speaker:

It sure is.

Speaker:

People do it all the dag on time anyway, so how can you make sure that when your resume gets on Bob Jones' desk for his next Top gun hire, that when Bob calls two of his best friends who happen to work at two banks you used to work for, how can you make sure that the feedback he gets is so positive that he doesn't even hesitate?

Speaker:

He can't wait to call and sit down and meet with you.

Speaker:

Here's how, and it's very, very simple production.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

If you're in a producing role, you need to produce, if you are in a credit role, you need to do good, high quality credit work.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

That has to be good.

Speaker:

Bigger factors, very simple.

Speaker:

How do you treat other people?

Speaker:

And by other people, I mean everybody outside of yourself.

Speaker:

How do you treat support?

Speaker:

How do you treat administration?

Speaker:

How do you treat your clients?

Speaker:

How do you treat their administration?

Speaker:

How do you treat the people north of you on the food chain?

Speaker:

How do you treat the people beside you on the food chain?

Speaker:

How do you treat the folks below you?

Speaker:

How do you treat every single person around you?

Speaker:

This doesn't mean you gotta be everybody's best friend.

Speaker:

In fact, that's absolutely not the answer.

Speaker:

But you can bet your reputation will be based almost solely on how you treat others.

Speaker:

So be mindful, be very protective, and treat everybody like they should be treated.
